Inquiry & Experimental Design:
As
an observant COC student, you are fascinated by the array of food that is
available during lunchtime at the Student Center.
You also notice that your friends’ performance on their exams
constantly changes over the course of the semester and strangely enough, this
change appears to correlate with what they eat for lunch on the day of the exam.
Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to put your experimental design
skills to good use, you design an experiment to test the effects of fast food on
student performance on exams.
State your hypothesis
for the experiment and identify your dependent
and independent
variables.
Identify your sample size,
and also the experimental
and control
group(s) you would need to draw
meaningful conclusions from your experiment.
